So just about the end of another year and the final Time Of The Month mix of 2010 , first Thank You to all of you who have downloaded mixes , 2010 was another giant step forward for me & vwat.

December's mix is as normally an extended mix and this year is no different , there is generally never a concept to the mixes other then tracks mix together ( well to me they do ) but this year i got to thinking about Christmas and the end of 2010.

A penny dropped in my small brain that Christmas has always meant music to me , Santa always left me L.P's which i played over and over and over from the age of 3.

Then as i got older , there was the sneak around to some friend's house after the adult's passed out after dinner , then the gathered friend's would bail into the back room.

Booze & ciggies be pulled out and the evening would be spent talking about stuff i have long forgotten but i still remember clearly the music playing from each of those years.

My first job was in a record shop and it started a whole 6 weeks before Christmas ( record shops now sadly see very little boost in sales as it seems music is no longer a gift , i have written to Santa via his Blackberry about this............... explaining this is not how i remember it been............still no answer but he's busy around this time of the year )

Further along the road Christmas meant all night parties , we where raving our t_t's off , now friends had there own places , most of this is a complete blur but i still remember the music that formed those parties as if it was yesterday , the raving selections , the morning after wine and sparkie's chill sessions.

As silly as it sounds i would like to dedicate this months audio to all them friends who i have lost touch with , moved away , left us way too early or just got lost.

In the mid 90's myself and Dj Spinbad did the "Cold Cutz Remixes (If I Ruled The Radio)" mixtape. We made that mixtape on broken 4-track-cassette recorders. We remixed tons of acapellas, and every song on the mixtape was an exclusive blend we did using turntables only. We re-scratched the song hooks, added sound fx, did some scratch interludes and really set the bar high for mixtape production. To date, that mixtape has reached tens of thousands of people and is considered one of the best mixtapes of all-time. This new mix was not supposed to be the specific part 2 to that mix, but it's done in a similar way and it is the "unofficial" part 2. There is ONLY acapella remixes on this new mix as well. I tried to use acapellas that we didn't use on the first one and also tried to squeeze in some rare ones too. There are some really great acapellas on here like The Symphony (Masta Ace verse), Peter Piper by Run Dmc, Full Clip by Gangstarr, Set It Off by Big Daddy Kane, Eric B is President by Eric B & Rakim, Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J, The Bitch in Yoo by Common, n more... A mix like this is completely opposite of many lazy djays' mixes that let songs play all the way and then talk or play sound fx in between every track. This involves soo much more, and is soo much more fun to make. I used hundreds of different beats and acapellas.

Today most music has become free online and the mixtape game is not what it once was. It's easy to find thousands of mixtapes for free download, i know i posted all of mine for free download at: (www.DJJS1.BLOGSPOT.com)
Sooo, with everything being free, in order to make it worthwhile for someone to possibly purchase a CD, I have continued to make mixes that i noticeable put lots of work into. Earlier in the week we gave you our picks for some good acts at this years Electric Picnic and now we're giving you some good music from those and other acts, in the form of the latest installment of Stevie G's podcast

"The Electric Picnic takes place this weekend in Stradbally in Ireland. I've been to them since the start and usually end of spinning there too. This year i'm not working there but I was trying to convince a few friends who were not impressed with the line-up that it was still very good so I said i'd throw a few tunes down for them. It ended up as a mix that i did live this morning. It's only a few of the acts that are performing so it's far from definitive, but it's mainly my personal taste and mainly music with a bit of soul to it. It contains everything from obscure mixes to obvious classics and hopefully it will keep you company on the drive up and might even get a few spins back in the campsite late at night! Enjoy
