DJ JS-1 " SOUND WAVES - COLD CUTZ REMIXES PART II )

www.goldy.vwat.net

THE BLURB.............( DON'T BOTHER READING....JS-1 IS DA SHEEEEETTTTTT AND U GETTING IT LEGEIT FREE LIKE.............C'MON KIDD )

In the mid 90's myself and Dj Spinbad did the "Cold Cutz Remixes (If I Ruled The Radio)" mixtape. We made that mixtape on broken 4-track-cassette recorders. We remixed tons of acapellas, and every song on the mixtape was an exclusive blend we did using turntables only. We re-scratched the song hooks, added sound fx, did some scratch interludes and really set the bar high for mixtape production. To date, that mixtape has reached tens of thousands of people and is considered one of the best mixtapes of all-time. This new mix was not supposed to be the specific part 2 to that mix, but it's done in a similar way and it is the "unofficial" part 2. There is ONLY acapella remixes on this new mix as well. I tried to use acapellas that we didn't use on the first one and also tried to squeeze in some rare ones too. There are some really great acapellas on here like The Symphony (Masta Ace verse), Peter Piper by Run Dmc, Full Clip by Gangstarr, Set It Off by Big Daddy Kane, Eric B is President by Eric B & Rakim, Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J, The Bitch in Yoo by Common, n more... A mix like this is completely opposite of many lazy djays' mixes that let songs play all the way and then talk or play sound fx in between every track. This involves soo much more, and is soo much more fun to make. I used hundreds of different beats and acapellas.

Today most music has become free online and the mixtape game is not what it once was. It's easy to find thousands of mixtapes for free download, i know i posted all of mine for free download at: (www.DJJS1.BLOGSPOT.com)
Sooo, with everything being free, in order to make it worthwhile for someone to possibly purchase a CD, I have continued to make mixes that i noticeable put lots of work into. All i really ask is that people spread the word and get these mixes out there. Please re-post this, email it to your friends, re-tweet this, etc... (There is the buttons to re-post on facebook and twiiter below this post) Lets keep the pressure on all those horrible djays out there and try to keep some respect, honor, dignity and skills to the mixtape legacy.

Special Thanks to my friends and co-djays who gave me a few treats for this mix cd.... Dj Premier, JBX & Big City Records, Dj Eclipse & Fatbeats, Dj Riz,
Mix Greens, Dj Young C, and Dj Ody Roc... they all contributed acapellas to this mix....

Kanye West - So Appalled feat. RZA, Jay-Z, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz & Cyhi The Prynce

Another release from Kanye's GOOD Music label, this time round he enlists Jigga man, Rza, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz and Chyni The Prince. Check it out here

Nottz - Blast That feat. Black Milk

Originally scheduled for an October 12th release, Nottz and his label Raw Koncept Media Group have announced a new release date for the album, October 26th. While his fans eagerly await You Need This Music, the Grammy winning producer/rapper is releasing a new single to appease fans' appetite over the extended wait. For the latest single, "Blast That," Nottz enlists the help of fellow acclaimed producer/rapper Black Milk, whose own project Album Of The Year is garnering a swell of buzz itself.

"Turn up this real hip-hop and turn that wackness down," says Nottz on the message behind his latest single, a track with Brash guitar licks laced over top the beat's heavy, trunk rattling drums. Collaborating with the aforementioned Black Milk proved to be a wise choice, as the track's staccato feel matches perfectly with Black's unique flow, while showcasing both as artists just as dangerous behind the mic as behind the boards. "I felt like Black Milk was the right person for the job for a real 'bring the boom bap back' type record. Something for the new generation to hear," remarks Nottz. Given the chemistry between the two – it took Black Milk only a day to write and record his verse for the song – it sounds like the two may be onto something.

Check out the latest single from Nottz 'Blast That" Featuring Black Milk
"Blast That"

Nottz' You Need This Music will be available October 26, 2010 via Raw Koncept Media Group.

Edit Of The Week (No.5)

William de vaughn - be thankful for what you got (1980 disco version - tony johns edit)

This week`s edit is by Londons Tony John who in his own words is a a true believer in music and all its healing powers, Tony has been busy putting his touch to some great music over the past few months working on tracks by artist`s like Gary Numan, Babe Ruth & Fela Kuti to name a few, but his latest edit has really got me, to be honest he hasnt really done much but extended the intro of the already beefed up 1980 disco version but then again sometimes less is more, this is a timeless track with a wonderful message and to me the whole thing with edits is its all about picking them classic and wonderful pieces of music that maybe people have sometimes forgotten about and giving them that little touch to bring back around again and back to life, there have been many cover versions, remixes and edit of this William De Vaughn classic over the years but this disco version to me is the stand out and i feel if its played to me in 10 years time it will still sound just as good, so thats enough of me bigging up the track and time to check it out yourself the download link has reached its 100 limit but Tony has giving me the go ahead to share this fresh Wav file link which you can find below, enjoy :)

Boog Brown & Apollo Brown - "Just Be"

Detroit based producer Apollo Brown and Atlanta based rapper Boog Brown are at it again. The pair’s first collaborations resulted in the enchanting mixtape The Grind Season Vol. 1, a tantalizing taste of what was soon to come. The wait will finally be over when the duo release their first full-length album Brown Study on September 28, 2010, via Mello Music Group. The long-awaited album will feature the likes of Miz Korona, Invincible, Kam Moye, and Kenn Starr.

The first single off of Brown Study is the sensual “Just Be,” an intimate whisper that floats over Apollo Brown’s shimmering samples and passionate groove, inspiring the intense pleasures of living in the present and savoring every moment. Boog expressed that desire, advising us to “Live in the moment. In all things, intimacy, joy, pain, hurt, loss, gain, triumph. All of that -- be in it. Feel it, because it’s the fabric of life. Blink and it's gone.” Powerful and vibrant lyrics such as “Enraptured in the scent/ This is bliss at length/ From start to the finish/ Euphoric/ Absorbed in the ebullience/ Elegant every sense awakened” meld with Apollo’s sampled soft horns, sweeping strings, and chimes, echoing his thought that "'Just Be' is one of those songs that exude passion and feeling. We don't have a lot of true feeling in the music now days. Emcees and producers shouldn't be afraid to express themselves exactly how they please.”

Boog Brown and Apollo Brown’s album Brown Study will be available September 28th via Mello Music Group.

Mayer Hawthorne & The Country - No Strings

For me Mayers first album "A Strange Arrangement" was on of the best albums released last year, and was on heavy rotation round these parts for quite some time. Now he's back with some new material to promote his new U.S. tour. Produced by Classic's "No Strings" the electro boogey track shud easily motivate any dance floor.

DA MONDAY SAMPLE............THE WINSTON BROTHERS " AMEN "

THE WINSTON BROTHER'S " AMEN "

( ONE MINUTE AND TWENTY SIX SECONDS IN KIDDDDDD )

The song itself achieved fame within the hip hop and subsequent electronic music communities when a former Downstairs Records employee known as Breakbeat Lenny compiled it onto his 1986 Ultimate Breaks and Beats bootleg series for DJs. Lenny hired Louis Flores to edit four bars of the drum break at a much slower speed than the remainder of the song. Although it created a jarring difference in tempo in the center of the song, it allowed Hip-Hop DJs to extend the beat by switching between two copies of the record on two separate turntables at a danceable tempo while ignoring the rest of the song (this technique was created by Kool Herc in 1974 and became a trend at large in 1977 with the efforts of Grandmaster Flash). By 1987, E-mu released the SP1200 sampler, altering Hip-Hop production techniques from drum machines to sampled loops. Most producers began to mine their loops initially from Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, causing the Amen break to gain a massive amount of fame in the late 80s hip-hop community, crossing over to the U.K. and European dance music scenes shortly afterwards. Eventually, the song was reissued in its original form at a higher quality sound, and since most contemporary electronic music producers were speeding up the sample, the bootlegged slower edited version fell out of favor.

WHERE DO YOU START WITH THIS ONE. !!!!!!!!!!

ONE THING TO CONSIDER WHILST BROWSING. TALK ABOUT HAVING THE LOTTERY TICKET IN YOUR HAND AND LOSING IT ON BUMPER , BUMPER JACKPOT , ROLL-OVER AND OVER WEEK.

( Neither the performer, drummer G.C. Coleman, nor the copyright owner Richard L. Spencer have ever received any royalties or clearance fees for the use of the sample. )

I CAN'T THINK OF ANOTHER BREAK THAT NOT ONLY INSPIRED MANY A SAMPLER BUT IT COULD BE ARGUED STARTED A WHOLE MUSIC GENRE / SCENE

" By 1990, at the height of British rave culture, the Amen began to appear in an increasing number of breakbeat hardcore productions. Hardcore emphasized a unique, harsh, aggressive sound that drew strongly from hip-hop and early acid house. It added a hip-hop influence with the addition of breakbeats and increased the tempo. A strong reggae and ragga influence emerged in 1991 and 1992, with uplifting piano melody loops or Jamaican reggae samples used at normal speed layered on top of frenetic 150 to 170 BPM breakbeats. This sound quickly evolved to a point where sliced and diced drum breaks in conjunction with low frequency bass lines became the important features of many tracks. This style was initially referred to as Jungle but later, as it progressed and rhythmic elements were refined, the term drum and bass became more common. Around the mid 1990s a number of IDM producers, who had been influenced by the Jungle/DnB sound, began to focus on the style and started exploring it in the context of electronica. Making "danceable" club oriented tracks was not a prerequisite. In fact, the more outlandish and obscure the manipulations, the more aesthetically pleasing the records were to aficionados—a trend that continues to this day in the form of breakcore. The amen break can still be found in many productions and there has been a renewed interest in the "old-skool" Jungle style in recent years. Luke Vibert, one of the many IDM producers who has explored this break (other examples include Squarepusher), has released several records under the moniker Amen Andrews, using the Amen on nearly every track, heavily sliced and edited, yet recognizable.
